The Porsche 997 (pronounced Nine Nine Seven) is the current version of the iconic Porsche 911 sports car built by the German manufacturer Porsche

Porsche began production of various version of the Carrera in 2005, the Turbo and GT3 models went on sale in 2006, with the 997 GT2 hitting the market in 2007. The renowned Targa was also added to the lineup, thus you can also get Targa versions of the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S.

In 2009 Porsche saw it fit to make several comprehensive changes to the 997 lineup, some of these changes included several small styling changes. The engine saw improvement, with increases in engine displacement across the board, the addition of Gasoline direct injection.

Porsche also introduced the company’s new dual clutch transmission known as Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) as well as other mechanical changes. Consequently, the updated Porsche 997 models are lighter, faster and even more fuel efficient in relative to the previous models. This was all done to improve one’s driving experience, by an increase in the power of the 997, along with better road addling.

With regards to the 997 Turbo, Porsche did a comprehensive re-tuning of the all wheel drive system with an optional “torque vectoring” system which was also added to the upgraded package.

In addition to that accomplishment, it has also received mostly positive reviews from the worldwide motoring press; even British motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson, who is a known detractor of Porsche vehicles, forced to put his foot in his mouth when he said regarding the 997 will “make love to your fingertips and stir your soul.”
