Grapeseed Oil for a Yeast Free Diet

Have you ever heard of grapeseed oil? Grapeseed oil is pretty new to me and I have only recently started using it in my yeast free cooking. Although not as common as other oils many of us use like vegetable, canola and olive oil, use of grapeseed oil has been gaining popularity over the last several years, especially in health food circles. I first came across grapeseed oil as a recommendation in one of my yeast free diet reference books. The book recommended adding the oil to a yeast free diet because it such a rich source of linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid that the body needs to function properly. It is not something that the body produces itself so the only way to get adequate amounts of it is by ingesting it. Although some research suggests that linoleic acid can slow the growth of Candida albicans there are additional benefits to consuming grapeseed oil for those of us following a yeast free diet to treat candidiasis.

It is these other health benefits that the high levels of linoleic acid found in grapeseed oil produce that are of particular importance to those of us who suffer from candidiasis. Effectively treating candididasis is multi-faceted approach which includes reducing the numbers of Candida albicans by introducing anti-fungals, restoring health to the body so that it can effectively keep the Candida ablicans under control and diet modification so that we do not continue to feed the Candida. Increasing your intake of linoleic acid helps the body to function more efficiently hence giving it a much better chance of being able to handle candidiasis.

Adding grapeseed oil to a yeast free diet will contribute to the overall health of the candidiasis sufferer. Research suggests that grapeseed oil can lower bad cholesterol levels, while raising good cholesterol. It has been shown to improve circulatory health. The high levels of vitamin E found in the oil have made it well known and widely used in skin care. High levels of antioxidants found in the oil help protect the body against free radical damage and strengthen the immune system. It has also been indicated in preventing and alleviating the symptoms of arthritis.

Grapeseed oil has a very neutral taste which why it can be used in so many recipes. It also has a high smoke point so it can be used for frying. You can try using it in your homemade dressings, mayonnaise or marinades. It is sometimes hard to find but if you cannot find it at you local supermarket you can most likely find it at the health food store.
