Denim Trends Summer 2011

This season traditional denim designs are getting a summer makeover! Here are some new ways to wear denim and fun, new styles of denim dresses, blazers and more…

Cropped Jeans

Here’s a look you can achieve without opening your wallet. Try rolling up your skinny jeans to achieve the crop jeans results. I wear this look often with a pair of nude pumps and t-shirt topped of with a light blazer jacket. Costume jewelry is in this season, so make sure to add some chunky bangles or a pendant. Make sure you go for cropped jeans that hit your mid-calf, anything shorter and you risk being mistaken for Huckleberry Finn.

Boyfriend Jeans

The allure of a woman in her boyfriend’s shirt morning after has rattled men’s brains for quite some time. I’ve always been a fan of wearing men’s clothes in a feminine way. Boyfriend jeans add a masculine factor indeed, so make sure that your top is very soft and gentle. I would go for a sheer or lace tank this season to balance out this denim sensation. Pair it with strappy pumps and your sex appeal is in full heat.

High Waisted Jeans

These jeans have a way of making your bum look full and lifted! To those of us who lack the apple bottom, this style of jeans does wonders. Go for wide legged, high waisted jeans to create an illusion of elongated body and legs, along with a fuller bottom. Wearing pumps will make you appear even longer and leaner. Tuck in your shirt and add vintage-ish belt to define the waist for a stylish outfit.

Denim Blazers

A fun turn from traditional jean vests and jacket are the new denim blazers. You can where these with virtually anything. Cropped pants, maxi skirt, skinny jeans, the possibilities are endless.

Denim Leggings

Knows as “jeggings” these leggings are a mix of denim and spandex just to give you enough stretch while keeping you stylish. Not only are they super comfortable, they come in many varieties that virtually fit any body shape. Where these with long tops, chunky sweaters, tanks, crop tops, you name it.

Denim Dresses

From a-line dresses to cute jumpers, the denim craze has enveloped the streets with a sea of jean dresses and skirts. Denim shirt dresses are very forgiving and tend to hide all the problem areas without losing the style factor. Wear them with a beige skinny belt and pumps for a chic look. There are great a-line dresses that are made of lighter denim material that hug the waist and fall gently around your hips. Some of my favorite are jean dresses with pockets!
