Profile Backlinks

As you probably know, getting backlinks pointing to your sites and to your pages more specifically is extremely important for getting the pages ranked in Google, especially in Google. Well maybe other search engines also pay attention to the amount of backlinks you get, but Google is probably the one that pays most attention to this factor. I would like to talk about the three factors that matters when it comes to backlinks. And those three factors are: First, the amount of backlinks you have pointing to your sites. Second, the value of those backlinks or the authority of those backlinks. Lastly, the anchored text of those backlinks.
So let’s discuss the first one, that’s the most obvious one. The amount of backlinks, the more & the higher the number of backlinks pointing to your site or to your page, the better it will ranked. The thinking behind this is simply that a backlink if I link it to your site that is like a recommendation. It’s like me saying this site is worth looking at or something worth reading on that site. And of course, the more people are saying that, the more people are linking to a page saying: “this is worth looking at” the better it must be. So it makes sense to rank pages that get more backlinks higher up. So more backlinks are generally better.
But, that’s not all the reason to it. That’s where the second factor comes in. Backlinks have different values. And let me first say, no one knows exactly how value of a backlink is determined except a few people who were programming the Google search engine. But most of it, are just guess or speculations and looking at what the results you get and trying to deduce what’s going on in the background. But here are somethings we can be pretty sure of when it comes to link value.
First of all, the more authoritative the page is that the link is placed on, the more value the link carries. So for example: if you get a link from a PR10 site, that gets thousands & thousands of visitors everyday and that has a really reactive community and so on, then that link is gonna be more valuable than if you get a link from you know some blog that has only 10 readers that never gets updated. Right? So the more is going on in a site, the higher authority of a site the more valuable the link from that site will be. And the other important factor is Context. If you look at where your link is placed on the site that’s linking to you. So for example: first of all the location, if your link is placed in the footer of the page or in a side bar or somewhere like that; it carries less value than if it is place in the body of the main text somewhere.
Another very important thing is, another example: if you’re just in a links page. So if your link is one among dozens or maybe a hundreds and hundreds of links on the same page, then it’s less valuable than if its the only link on a page or just one among a few links. So the ideal case is getting a link that is integrated in the textflow is just part of the text and that is on a page that doesn’t have too many other links that is going out from it as well. And then looking at the bigger picture of all of your links, it also matters where they’re coming from. And quite simply, you want your links to come from many different sites placed on many different servers and so on. And that’s just to reduce link spamming because obviously otherwise; you could just have your money side over here and you can build the second site that does nothing else but just list of thousands & thousands of links to your money side. But of course that doesn’t count, right? If all of the links are coming from the same site. Same domain or even just the same server, then it’s much less valuable than if they’re coming from different places.
Finally, the very important factor to your backlink is the anchored text. The anchored text is a piece of text that the people click on to get to your site. And ideally, this anchored text should be your keyword. It’s the keyword you’re trying to target or closely related to your keyword. So for example: I’ll take Dog Training. If you’re trying to rank for the term “dog training”, then you want to get backlinks that reads “dog training”, right? Because again this makes a lot of sense ’cause this anchored text helps the search engine determine what the site is all about. Obviously, if I link to a page with the text “dog training” that must have something to do with dog training. It’s not gonna be about cars, right? But what you have to look at here, if you’re building your own links and for example: let’s say you’re doing articles and you’re submitting articles, don’t submit articles with all of them having the same anchored text. If you just submit hundreds and hundreds of articles each one has “dog training” as the anchored text pointed to your site, then that looks spamming because it is just not real. It doesn’t happen with natural link building with everyone links to you with the same text. So you may want to mix it up a little. You may want to get “dog training” maybe “dog obedience” or something and also just those completely unrelated ones. Maybe “click here” as your anchored text. Just to make it look more natural.
So those are the three factors that matter concerning backlinks. And the general rule for your profile backlinks is just this; make it look as natural as possible. You know, get links from diverse sources from many different websites with different anchored text related to your keyword. So when it comes to link building when in doubt, diversified.
